Too late to seed?

I haven't gotten around to seeding a lot of my bulk OP seed from some plants such as rugosas, R. acicularis, R. foliolosa, R. nitida, Ann Endt, etc.

The seeds have been in the fridge, most dry, some rotting in hips.

If I seed now they'd have about 2 1/4 months in the cold and I could pull them out May 1st and any germinations should have time to develop before fall.

Is that long enough or should I hold these seeds until next year?

Just wondering what some of you more experienced people know about cold stratification of rugosas and other species roses.

Plenty of time - I purposely have held off taking the seeds out of the hip so that I could slow them down this year. In years past I waited until late April and into May to plant the ones that didn't germinate in the fridge and they did fine (probably better since they got outside a lot sooner). I also had seeds sitting out in the summer of 2013 without any medium and when I added moist vermiculite last spring (2014) they germinated very well.

At least that has been my experience.

Here usually I do not have more than 2 cold monthes before germinations.

The bigger the seeds the more vernalisation is needed.
