Hi Everyone!!

Dr. Lopez-Arias has made wonderful contributions to rose black spot resistance during her Ph.D. research. Her seminar as part of her thesis defense was recorded and posted on YouTube for us all to enjoy. Here is the link

Very interesting, if largely Greek to me.
For those more proficient in Greek, is there currently any practical information/application to be gleaned from this work that might inform the backyard program of an amateur hybridizer at this stage?

I enjoyed it - still only 1/3 through. My absorption capacity is low - but there are moments of “ah” got it. So far it distilled on a practical applicable level for me to looking at George Vancouver with more respect.

Fortunately, here my black spot pressure is so very low (dry) that it is not a worry - l am waiting to see if they touch on Sd’Or genetics explaining its susceptibility of the typhoid Mary or Marty class - l assume caused by it “evolving” in dry environments ( no urgent survival need for immunity ).

Only rose l recall in my garden being totally destroyed by blackspot during a couple of humid summers. Setup badly to survive winter.
