Re: Alternate source for repeat bloom

Thank you for your generous entry, David. It is amazingly informative. I'll need to go over it a few times, but I am already excited about the breeding possibilities you describe.

Re: Barden Atomics - Dakota Redwing

I think it is an elegant rose with subtle coloring. I look forward to growing it. I'm delighted to communicate with its originator.

Re: Germination of crosses I'm excited about

Rob, thank you for your recommendation of Quadra. I looked it up on HMF and am really impressed with it. It seems to have everything. I had never heard of it before. I can hardly wait to add it to my stable. When I get a stable. So, how do your first flowers look??? It has been snowing in my town fo...

Re: Germination of crosses I'm excited about

Congratulations, Rob! Now I'm all excited and have to go to HelpMeFind to look all of these up so I can speculate about who they'll take after. Yours is the first batch I've heard of this season. Makes me want to have a look at my OP practice seeds in the fridge. Can we see photos of these plants as...

Re: Help identifying this rose

Hi Jjbird. What an interesting color combo. Do you think it may be a pot of, say, four rooted cuttings of two colors? Your question touches on an interest of mine. I would like to know more about the mini roses bred especially for the potted floral/gift market. I think I remember that Kordes develop...

Re: Moss smell

Srdjan, as far as I can determine, all of the Cecile Brunners are sports of the original, all with the same scented foliage/sap. The CB I grew was rustled as a cutting from an old scrappy plant languishing in an abandoned yard in Claremont, California near Los Angeles when I lived there 35 years ago...

Re: Moss smell

I agree with you, Srdjan. This is such an interesting part of rose culture. While I do not have any moss roses at this time, I have always enjoyed the scents of the mossing on these varieties. On a related subject, one of the most pleasant scents I know comes from the sap and buds of the polyantha C...

Judith, it's beautiful! It's frilly and unique. How about "frillique"? "Sine Wave"? "Crinoline Wine"?

Oooh. That is a beauty. Please post photos of it as it grows and blooms again. Do you think it is phototropic? [did I spell that right?]
