Re: Can anyone recommend a climbing rose for a pot?

As long as you don't have a dog which has access to the area, put your ferric phosphate pellets all around under the pots on the pavement beneath them and replenish each time they get wet. You may also need to spread them between that space and where they are coming from. I have found the pellets lo...

Re: Categorizing the forum

Yes, Philip, outside links are a real PITA. It's a huge reason they have been resisted with HMF for so many years. Providing catalog links for references for descriptions and breeding, when they change and fall into oblivion every few months.

Re: Roses with two "centers"

I believe you are referring to "split centers", when instead of the expected, single pointed center, the bloom shows two. Traditionally, that has been viewed as a fault, particularly in rose exhibiting. There have been a number of varieties infamous for the fault, Kordes Perfecta being one. There ma...

Re: 我的自育月季

They are lovely. Are they seedlings you have raised? Lavender and lilac modern roses released in the US market have most often been highly scented. There have been a few which weren't, but in general, our mauves have smelled quite good.

The post above was approved because it translates (per Google) to "There are very few bourbons left now"

Welcome! Are these roses you have raised from seed? Do you have questions about what potential roses you might use to raise healthier seedlings?

Baby Love (and Rabble Rouser, its yellow baby) will also grab every atom of crown gall and express the hades out of it. Both and everything descended from them are gone from my yard.

Re: Experience with mini's?: Lavender Delight

Not necessarily, it is, after all, YOUR thread and YOUR choice how to handle it. If you'd like to ask other questions, ask. Or not. Your choice. But, there shouldn't be any worry about hijacking the thread because it's YOURS.

Re: Types of repeat-flowering in roses

So, how do we find out if Nigel Hawthorne still exists in Brooklyn Botanical or the Cranford Rose Garden? I will email Gregg Lowery to see if it still exists in the Vintage collection. Rosarium Scoticum (Leonard Heller) is gone. He fell off Face Book and appears to have vanished. Emails to his addre...

Re: Types of repeat-flowering in roses

It is too bad Nigel Hawthorn wasnt repeat blooming. It is one of the most enchanted looking roses I have ever seen, and its only an 18" ball of a plant. Super tiny! You would have LOVED that two blocks from the Pacific in SoCal! It flowered for MONTHS and was the healthiest thing imaginable. Absolu...

Re: Types of repeat-flowering in roses

You would have found the greenhouses full of once-flowering, overly vigorous miniature X rugosa and rugosa x miniature seedlings at Sequoia Nursery rather interesting.

Re: HelpMeFind Issues

It seems to be. The latest from the Help Desk.. We have run several different website malware scanners against HMF and all have come back negative. We have also contacted Avast about a potential false-positive and we are requesting further information. Unless a HMF guest reports otherwise, we have c...

Re: HelpMeFind Issues

Avast seems to have been the major disrupter with HMF. Per the Help Desk, a security certificate on a server which is being changed had expired. That issue was addressed. One server has been filled simply with photos and a second is being pressed into service. Supposedly, that was to have been compl...
