From the full paper:
"In this study, we sequenced and assembled the transcriptome of the susceptible R. gigantea and the resistant R. longicuspis using de novo sequence assembly. The main aims ofthe study were (1) to compare the PM resistance/susceptibility mechanisms of R. gigantea and R. longicuspis and then find differentially expressed genes and key pathways; (2) to analyse MLO-like genes and then identify MLO-like genes that may be associated with PM resistance; and (3) provide useful information for accelerating progress towards harnessing the biological resources in the Rosa genus."
