I think it produces nearly seedless fruits, which would be good for hips, not so for seeds. We have been getting pears with only about 1 seed per fruit, and apples without more than 2 or 3. Probably that treatment is already in use in some places.

I looked up the way that AVG works. It inhibits ethylene production, so it keeps the fruit from falling off even if it is short of seeds. Like blossom-set for tomatoes.
