A really nice stiriped rose

This is the first bloom on my CPSC which is, Cal Poly x Strawberry Cream ( a pink/white striped miniature rose of mine). I've been using my Strawberry Cream and my Splash of Color to try and come up with stripes without white and this is my first success toward that goal. I love the 'pastel' colors. This makes up a little bit for having lost my 4 best seedlings over the winter. I'm thrilled with this one. :-)

http://www.helpmefind.com/gardening/l.p ... 1142&tab=1 I'll be adding more pictures of it today.

Thanks Philip and Paul. If it performs well I'd like to get it into the hands of others. I almost tossed it at the end of the season as it hadn't bloomed the first year. Thankfully I didn't!

That is a nice combo of colors. Especially because it is in its' 2nd yr., it will be interesting to watch. Hopefully it will not go all Chihuly on you.

Jackie,

I'm not sure what you mean by the Chihuly reference.

I think it is in reference to Chihuly's propensity to sometimes be striped but mostly be not striped. For me it is usually striped in the spring and only at the bud or near bud stage. Then the stripes fades away. Without looking it up, I think the stripe comes from Scentimental which always retains the striping - which, I think makes it more disappointing. Chihuly is still a lovely rose though - the foliage is especially nice.

Andre,

Oh Ok. The stripes hold through the fading process. All buds are striped so far. Hopefully this one maintains the stripes. I'll see how it does over the summer. Thanks.

Sorry about that Rob. Here in San Diego area, Chihuly, a similar stripe combo, often becomes a nicely blended orange when the heat begins. The reference was kind of like when you hit 65 and your eyebrows go all Andy Rooney on you.

I'm hoping that there are no Andy Rooney eyebrows with this one. ;-)
