Dissecting the Genome-Wide Evolution and Function of R2R3-MYB Transcription Factor Family in Rosa chinensis

"Our results indicated that R2R3-MYBs have multiple synteny clusters. The RcMYB114a gene was included in the Rosaceae-specific Cluster 54, with independent evolutionary patterns. On the basis of these results and an analysis of RcMYB114a-overexpressing tobacco leaf samples, we predicted that RcMYB11...

Re: Newbie question

When you ask about seed germination experience from other hybridizers, I recommend that you consider the type of rose seed that the hybridizer uses. (Common hybrid tea seed behavior may be very different than near species seeds.)

challenges of breeding rose rosette resistent

Normally it is hard to get more than the abstract free from some journals. Here is a full paper which should be of interest to rose hybridizers:

Re: Late breaking California rose rosette virus proposed action

It appears to me that they are trying, but viruses are a very complicated part of Nature. Progress may be slow.

This is what Dr. Rankin has written: http://www.tenarky.org/Merit_Articles/2009/DrRankinRoseReplantDiseaseNRLMay2009.pdf ---------------------------------------------------- This appeared in a local rose society newsletter that I have great respect for: http://www.marinrose.org/replantdisease.html -...

convenient source for a number of pictures of virus infected rose leaves,

Since this includes a number of pictures of infected leaves, this looks like (to me) something that diserves increased publicity.

I do have one question - why is rose spring dwarf virus (RsDaV) not mentioned?

Re: Rose replant disease?

I used to add Mycorrhizae fungi to the fresh planting soil. (I am no longer active.)

black spot research - tetraploid roses

"A QTL for resistance to several races of black spot co-located with the known Rrd1 locus in Rosa. A polymorphism in muRdr1A linked to black spot resistance was identified and molecular markers were designed."

What Do we know about Black Spot in Roses?

I do not have free access to the full review. Because of the author, I assume that anyone serious about black spot breeding would benefit from reading this review.

Should one experiment using spermidine?

Many years ago I was interested in using spermidine to assist germination rates.

This may be another experiment to try.
