Re: New germinations

Paul, I don't grow Purple Splash as I don't have room for climbers. I found OP hips on a plant while walking through a nursery at the end of the season. Considering it was the end of the season and it was in a pot it seemed to do fairly well as far as BS goes. Many plants around it were defoliated b...

Re: First Seedling to bloom this winter....

Wow, I really like the color mix on SnT the more you post pics Kim! I have a few other seedlings to bloom soon that look like they will be fuller blooms and in the orange to peach color....will have to wait to see. I did have one bright orange seedling bloom that exhibited a lack of resistance to BS...

Re: First Seedling to bloom this winter....

Thanks all! Kim, Thanks for sharing the pictures. SnT sure is a pretty color! I'm in full agreement with you about sharing with others and want to share rooted plants of some of my own this coming season. David, I remove the seeds, put them in moist vermiculite and put them in the fridge. I normally...

First Seedling to bloom this winter....

My first seedling this winter to bloom is a 'Show n Tell' OP seedling. It's a miniature, yellow and has a light sweet scent. It is 3" tall and already has a second cane with another bud on it. That has to be a good thing. :-) I received some canes of SnT from Kim to root this winter and one had a si...

Embryo rescue

Could anyone provide me with directions, or point me to a source, on how to rescue embryos from achenes that don't germinate per usual methods? I've read bits and pieces here about using vermiculite as the culture medium which interests me more than using the agar, or similar type medium. I'm hoping...
