Re: First germination of the winter

That sounds like a great cross Rob. 'Ramblin Red' does well at the University of Alberta Botanic Garden.
Looking forward to your report on the outcome.

Great crosses Andre. I really like the 'Prairie Youth' x 'Hazeldean'.

Re: Spring Observations

Joe, Sorry to hear of your bad luck with the spray. Maybe the folks at the local golf course can recommend something. Twenty years ago, I could spray Roundup at the base of my shrubs around the time the grass was 3 inches high and before the leaves emerged. It worked well by killing the grass withou...

I have never seen hips with seeds on 'Agnes'. It tries to form them but there is only fluff inside.

Re: Darlow's enigma

Joe
Your Darlow's Enigma seeds may have larvae from the rose seed wasp Megastigmus aculeatus nigra which was introduced as a biological control of Rosa multiflora. We have its near relative megastigmus aculeatus in Alberta. I found larvae in every seed of some crosses. :(

Dr. Parminderjit Sandhu, the Canadian scientist in charge of rose breeding at Vineland Research and Innovation Centre, was scheduled to present the lecture. She has resigned from Vineland effective February 28th, 2018 due to health reasons.

World Federation Rose Societies conference - Copenhagen

I am wondering if anyone from this list will be attending the conference and will any of you visit the Sangerhausen rose garden afterward?
It seems there might be an opportunity to meet some of you in person rather than via the internet.

I am interested in learning if your crosses with R. acicularis eventually are subject to rust? Or is rust even a problem where you are?

You may be referring to the book Roses for the North

Naturally, the link to the disease Appendix is not working. Perhaps someone else has a copy of it.

Wonderful crosses and wonderful pictures. I really like RR 3 x Louise Bugnet. How does it do on very hot days?
