'ploidy question

I am the lead cyber rosarian for the ARS, filtering and answering questions from around the world, in most cases sending the question off to a local CR in their area or finding an expert to answer their question. Who better than the RHA to answer this one!? Does anyone know the answer? "Is the Natal...

Re: Unusual seedling

Lol, such great names! Saving these for future seedlings! Philip, Wine Knot? LOL!!! The seedling is out of Night Owl - not sure how it will do in the extreme heat. So far the edges have fried in windy 95 degree days, (as have many of the roses) but then it's in a pot that's too small (as are most of...

Re: Unusual seedling

Thanks for the suggestions and comments, everyone. No, Kim, it's out of Night Owl. Unfortunately, I lost the Art Nouveau in the heat of last summer. :(

Unusual seedling

When I first posted this seedling, it was suggested that it might not be consistent. Well, to my surprise, it is! Odd little seedling but I like it. Opinions? Name suggestions? Current code name: Road Runner.

Re: My stratification methods for this year

You might try some Oxyclean soaks. I had planned on trying some test batches again but forgot about it. I initially used the soak after the seeds started molding and noticed increased germination in the soaked batches. Soak was about a 1/4 teaspoon to an ounce of water for 15-30 min as I recall.

Re: A Leaf Question
Moyesii can have very many leaves but not those spines and the leaves don't look like a cinnamomae. I'm with Joe on this, looks like a spin. The flower will tell.
Yes, when it comes out blue, lol!
Beautiful flower. What are the parents?
That was one where the packrats ran off with the marker. I'm quite sure Show 'n Tell is one of the parents. The other, I don't know.

Re: First Crosses?

The hips on the first of my crosses are getting nice and fat (or not, lol). I've done some strange ones this year. One of the ones I'm really looking forward to is Imposter x Paul Ecke, Jr. Can't wait to see if the color combinations turn out interesting. I also used r. Tunquinensis pollen on severa...

A Leaf Question

Can anyone shed some light on this unidentified specimen? Where its genetics might have come from? I've never seen a rose with 11 leaflets. Also, the prickles are all over the seedling. I got these seeds from an internet seller who claimed the rose was bl...

Splotch (ish)

This is the first seedling I've gotten from my crosses with Halo Glory that has shown any evidence of a splotch. It's from Show n' Tell x Halo Glory. It's not much, and very messy, but it's definitely there.
