I've planted it in the field and we'll see how it grows. The problem is that winter dieback may kill the variegated branch.
Any updates on them? C:

Strange hips

So I’ve never encountered this before but one of the ladies I do landscaping for gave me the hips on her rosebush I trimmed back and some of the hips are downright odd, some red, some not, which is fairly normal but then they get funky. I don’t now the name of this rose but it’s hips are literally b...

Re: Show and Tell?

More show and tell: P42FIVI: Peters 42 (one of Peter Harris' rescues from the Morden Breeding station, a cross between a poly and L83) X FIVI3. A lush and vigorous plant that blooms for a very extended period. 1128: 1048 (a healthy and hardy orange semi-double) x FIVI3 (First Impression x R. virgin...

Attached is a photo of a small plant with variegation. How to tell if this is a virus?

Is this seedling yours? It’s incredible! I’d love to perhaps get a cutting if it’s a stable sport down the line?

Yeah I only know of Sericea, so that’s pretty unusual. Following for future updates though!

Re: Variegated roses?

I love the look of the Fracis Meilland sport! With the edges being more consistently white, I wonder if it is a periclinal chimera with just the outermost layer of the growing point being mutated to not produce chlorophyll. I suspect mutated chloroplasts may be the reason for the attached variegate...

Stratification period?

Hi! Wanted to ask how long some of you generally stratify your seeds! I’m fairly small scale so I generally use a fridge but wanted to know how many weeks you left them before pulling.

Re: first roses of the year

Question about micro minis-

Do you usually have them act as the pollen parent? And if so how difficult is it to collect the pollen? I myself have a Cinderella micro I’m very interested in crossing!

Variegated roses?

Does anyone have any experience with breeding roses for/with variegated foliage? I was thinking of buying R. wichurana variegata for my hobby, any info about breeding R. wichurana as well would be helpful!
